Fundraising Priorities

History Tomorrow Fund | Make a gift to History Tomorrow

Established in 2017, the History Tomorrow Fund has helped empower the Faculty of History to offer life-changing support through graduate scholarships and educational outreach. It underwrites access to graduate study by easing financial barriers that prevented many high-calibre offers from being accepted, and also tackles inequality in education by connecting underserved students and teachers with the Faculty’s vibrant academic community. Over this time, it has made profound impact via named scholarships and outreach expansion.

Supporting Academic Posts | Giving to the Faculty of History

Oxford’s Faculty of History, the largest of its kind in the UK, covers a vast chronological and geographical scope. However, funding constraints are jeopardising the replacement of upcoming vacancies in professorial and lectureship roles and philanthropic support is needed to maintain excellence in teaching and research.

If you are interest in finding out more about supporting an academic post, please contact Ben Heller, Benjamin Heller, Head of Development – Humanities.

Supporting Research Centres | Giving to the Faculty of History

The Faculty’s research centres foster collaboration among leading historians and advance innovative scholarship. Philanthropic support enables high-impact research events and sustained seminar programmes.

General Support for Students | Giving to the Faculty of History

Student excellence at both undergraduate and graduate levels is foundational to the Faculty’s mission. Gifts help fund awards and prizes that recognise outstanding academic achievement.

Supporting the Tutorial System | Giving to the Faculty of History

At the heart of an Oxford History education lies the weekly tutorial. These small-group sessions with leading historians foster independence and intellectual rigour. We are committed to sustaining this unique model, which will only be possible through philanthropic support. The Teaching Fund secures tutorial posts in History for the long term with donations and matched funding from Oxford University Press.

A Gift in Your Will

Leaving a gift in your will is a lasting way to support the Faculty of History’s future. Legacy gifts provide long-term stability for our students, teaching, and research. Whether directed towards scholarships, outreach, or academic posts, such gifts help ensure that the study of history at Oxford continues to thrive for generations to come.

If you would like to hear more, Spencer Wisdom & Caroline Reynolds in our Legacy team would be pleased to have an informal chat with you, providing any guidance you may need and the wording to share with your solicitor or family members.
