The Oxford Historian

We at the History Faculty have very much enjoyed making the printed copies of The Oxford Historian in the past. However the print and more especially the postage costs have become prohibitively expensive for us to maintain.

Rather than stop producing the magazine, we decided that we would continue with a new digital format, and increase the frequency from once a year to termly. This has actually increased the amount of content that we send out and gives us the opportunity to theme our articles by coinciding with anniversaries and reacting to recent news events. It also gives us the chance to let you know about upcoming events that the Faculty, that you may be interested in attending.

We will be printing 1000 copies of the magazine - made up of the three electronic magazines released throughout the year. These will be free and ordered through our website. We will be sending an email out to all our alumni with more information when the magazines arrive at the History Faculty and are ready to order.

Since 2003, the History Faculty has published an annual alumni magazine entitled The Oxford Historian. From 2016 we are going completely digital. If you are registered with the University as an alumnus of the History Faculty and have not received your copy of The Oxford Historian by email, please contact Laura Spence (our Alumni and Communications Officer), at comms@history.ox.ac.uk and the most recent copy will be sent straight over to you.

The Faculty is in the process of digitalising our past editions of The Oxford Historian, so pay attention to this page over the coming weeks!
