History Faculty projects & academics shortlisted in the University of Oxford VC Awards

The Faculty of History is pleased to announce that the following projects have been nominated for awards as part of the Vice-Chancellors Awards 2025.

Vice-Chancellor’s Breakthrough Researcher Award - Dr Catherine Jenkinson

As the postdoctoral researcher on ‘(Hi)stories of Violence: Myth-making, Imprisonment and the Cultural Identity of the Tower of London’ between the Humanities Division, Historic Royal Palaces and the Royal Armouries, Dr Catherine Jenkinson has provided an outstanding model of cross-sector, collaborative working to achieve significant impact at the University and beyond.    

Vice-Chancellor’s Teaching and Learning Award - Interdisciplinary Medical Training

The interdisciplinary ‘Diversity in Death and Dying’ medical training session that incorporates the Ashmolean Museum and Humanities expertise has been shortlisted for a University of Oxford Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Teaching and Learning. The session incorporates insights from palliative care, neuroscience, psychiatry, history, art, and theology, among other disciplines.

Vice-Chancellor’s Research Culture Award - Medical Humanities

TORCH’s Medical Humanities Research Hub (MedHum) has been shortlisted for the University of Oxford Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Research Culture.  MedHum is an interdisciplinary research hub that supports Humanities and social-science based research on health and medicine at the University of Oxford, and promotes public awareness of the contribution the Humanities make to a proper understanding of health, disease, and medicine.
