Jacqueline Testamark

DPhil Research Topic

Jacqueline N. Testamark is a DPhil student in the History of Art and Visual Culture at Christ Church College. Her research explores questions of art and empire, with a particular focus on Britain and Italy from 1700-1850 and the Grand Tour. She is particularly interested in themes of orientalism, belatedness, hybridity, and the use of art in early ethnography. Her dissertation is supervised by Professor Cora Gilroy-Ware (St. Peter’s College) and supported by the Rhodes Scholarship.

Jackie completed her undergraduate studies at Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Civilizations and History (cum laude), earning distinctions in both majors. Most recently, she received her MSt in History of Art and Visual Culture at Oxford, earning a distinction in the course. Jackie’s research and translations have been published as part of a larger exhibition catalogue on art in eighteenth-century Rome with Nicholas Hall Ltd.
