My research focuses on family, marriage and marriage breakdown in post-war Britain, setting experience within a detailed exploration of the wider social, legal, religious and cultural context. Through this work, I have extensive research knowledge of working-class lives and, in particular, working-class women’s lives in the postwar period, along with research interests in family, relationships, domestic abuse and oral history. My research reflects and informs my interest in issues relating to gender equality and social inequality and, similarly, links closely to my work on inclusive community initiatives that explore related themes.
