The Head of Administration and Finance (HAF) is the senior administrative officer in the History Faculty. The HAF is responsible for the effective and efficient day to day non-academic management and administration of the History Faculty. Working with the Faculty Board Chair and other senior academic staff, the HAF plays a key role in the Faculty’s strategic and operational planning, designing and implementing Faculty policies and procedures, and ensuring that the Faculty meets Divisional and University requirements. Duties are wide-ranging and include the personnel management of the admin team as a whole, financial management, and administration of research support activities, as well as oversight of academic and student administration and premises management.

Belinda provides administrative support for both the Oxford Centre for the History of Science, Medicine, and Technology (OCHSMT) and the wider Faculty as part of the Board Office team.

Research Support

Hollie provides support to History Faculty members and incoming postdoctoral researchers who are applying for research funding from both external (eg. AHRC, ESRC, EC, British Academy, Leverhulme and Wellcome Trust) and internal (e.g. OUP John Fell Fund and Sanderson Fund) sources. Hollie provides information on available grant schemes and works with applicants to identify suitable options, prepare proposals and budgets, obtain relevant approvals and submit applications to funders.

Hollie is Secretary to the Faculty’s Research Committee and works closely with the Faculty’s Research Director and Deputy Research Director, the Finance Manager and the Research Support Assistant.

Research Support Assistant - Charlie Rudman

Charlie provides administrative support to the Research Development Officer in the facilitation of grant-funded research, to the Finance Manager in the management of post-award research finances, and to the Faculty’s research centres. They work closely with academic, research and administrative staff across the Faculty, in particular with the Faculty’s Director of Research and Deputy Director of Research. They also liaise with the Alumni and Communications Project Officer in gathering and disseminating information on research events.

Manda works in both the History and Philosophy Faculties. She supports History's Finance Manager on a wide range of tasks, such as responding to enquiries, advising on procedures and policies, and processing, recording and monitoring routine transactions.

Edward provides technical support and advice for the Faculty of History. He is involved in all aspects of the development of IT for use in historical research, teaching and administration. He also works with the Humanities Inter-Faculty Head of IT to develop strategies and share good practices with other faculties.
