The Dr Ralph Walter History Lecture

Join us for a lecture celebrating Dr Ralph Walter’s legacy bequest to endow a new Chair in Modern British Political History.

The lecture will be given by William Whyte, Professor of Social and Architectural History at St John’s College, Oxford. Professor Whyte’s publications include Redbrick: a social and architectural history of Britain’s civic universities (2016) and Unlocking the Church: the lost secrets of Victorian sacred space (2017). He is chairman of the Oxford Historical Society and the Oxford Preservation Trust.

Ralph Walter is an alumnus of Kellogg College, and an Honorary Member of the Keble Senior Common Room. Dr Walter has developed the Research Centre in Victorian Political Culture at Keble in collaboration with his former supervisor Professor Angus Hawkins. His primary research interest is in the quantitative analysis of Victorian electoral results. Until recently Dr Walter was an executive in the financial services industry, serving as Chief Operating Officer and Treasurer of Kayne Anderson Investment Management.

There will be a drinks reception in the Douglas Price Room following the lecture 6.15 - 6.45pm.
