Research Interests

My research focuses on American foreign relations during the nineteenth century. I am particularly interested in the Civil War era, international economics and Anglo-American relations. Presently, I am writing on the history of the "Monroe Doctrine" in the nineteenth century.

Supervision Interests

I supervise researchers working on the history of American foreign relations, 1776-1941. I also supervise work on nineteenth century economics and politics.
