Dr Lewis has published on Calvinist educational institutions, notably the Academy at Geneva, on medicine in the University of Oxford in the sixteenth century, and on the development of luxury trades in London and Paris in the eighteenth century. She is currently conducting research into medicine and natural history at the Montpellier medical school in the sixteenth century, and into the history of the printed book trade, with particular reference to medical publication at Lyon, Paris, Basle and Zürich. She is also co-operating in the St Andrews University Reformation Studies Institute's project for the compilation of a comprehensive data-base and bibliography of the Sixteenth-Century French Religious Book.
