Research Interests
Mike Finn is a historian of nineteenth and twentieth century British social, economic and political history. He has researched on a variety of topics including the social history of the First World War, working-class culture in late Victorian London, and the expansion of higher education in England after 1945. In 2001 he won the Palgrave/Times Higher Education Supplement Humanities and Social Sciences writing prize, and before moving to Oxford was a Bye-Fellow of Magdalene College, Cambridge. In 2002-2003 he was a Kennedy Scholar at Harvard University. He is a convenor of the postgraduate seminar at the Institute of Historical Research, London.
