HISTORY OF SCIENCE, MEDICINE, AND TECHNOLOGY

Postgraduate entry

The research degrees open to students in the history of science, medicine, and technology are the M.Litt. (Master of Letters) and D.Phil. (Doctor of Philosophy) which are examined solely by thesis. For both degrees, residence in Oxford of a minimum of six terms is required. In addition, there are one-year M.Sc. and two-year M.Phil. courses in the History of Science, Medicine, and Technology, and a one-year M.Sc. course in the History of Science (Instruments, Museums, Science, Technology) is offered. These are taught courses for which short dissertations are also necessary.

Options in the History of Science and Technology and the History of Medicine are also available in the programme of the M.Sc. and M.Phil. in Economic and Social History.
