St Hilda's College, Oxford One-Year Stipendiary Lectureship in Early Modern History

Applications are invited for a one-year, fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturership in Early Modern British History, tenable from 1 October 2013. This particular appointment is to fulfil teaching needs. Applications are invited from those with active research interests in any field of British history between 1500 and 1700.

The successful candidate will be appointed to a one-year, fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturership at St Hilda’s College. The appointee will be required to provide a combined total of eight hours of tutorial teaching per week in the first two terms, and four hours per week in the third term, and to participate in the pastoral care of students and the administration of History within the College, including admissions and marking college examinations.

Candidates should have a strong educational background, with a good first degree, and should be working for, or have already obtained, a doctorate in History specialising in the Early Modern period (1500-1700). Some teaching experience is essential. The salary for the post will be £16,347 - £18,385 pro rata, according to the particular teaching duties in different terms as outlined above. Membership of the Universities’ Superannuation Scheme (USS) is offered. Meal entitlements in College are detailed in the Further Particulars.
