The Oxford Centre for Byzantine Research is a new initiative based at Oxford University promoting the study and research into all aspects of the history of the Byzantine Empire and its neighbours from Late Antiquity onwards. Established in 2010, it organises regular lectures, seminars and colloquia with the aim of encouraging collaboration and inter-disciplinary research for the vibrant community of scholars working in and around Oxford.
The Oxford Centre for Byzantine Research is chaired by Professor Averil Cameron, (Keble College); its Director is Dr Peter Frankopan (Worcester College).
